About the collaboration
This is the first collaboration between the Japan Sumo Association, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary since its foundation this year, and Familia, which is celebrating its 75th anniversary.
With the shared desire to "make Japanese traditional culture accessible to children, " the art expresses the unique world of sumo, including Kuma-chan dressed as a sumo wrestler with a large ginkgo tree* tied around his neck, as well as chanko nabe, gunbai, flags, and large sea bream.
*Oigincho is a style of topknot that can be worn by sumo wrestlers ranked at or above Juryo, and is named after its resemblance to a ginkgo leaf.
Familia offers six different items, while the Japan Sumo Association offers four.
Towel handkerchiefs will be sold by both companies.
Take this opportunity to find your favorite items.
