Upcycled denim bag

Upcycling

No new materials were ordered for this production, and leftover fabric was used for everything from the main fabric to the lining, synthetic leather, and handles. The main fabric of the denim bag was cut from a large sheet of used stock Levi's® 501® fabric arranged in a patchwork style, and the remaining scraps from cutting the main fabric were used for the handles and charms, in an effort to leave as little material as possible behind. The lining and synthetic leather (hereinafter referred to as "synthetic leather") also use archive fabric left over from Familia's past collections.

Due to this manufacturing process, none of the 50 denim bags are the same. The color of the denim fabric and the angle of the patchwork vary from one bag to another, so you can enjoy completely different looks on both the front and back of the bag. Not only that, but each bag also has a different combination of lining (15 types in total) and synthetic leather (16 types in total).
The synthetic leather section is arranged diagonally, a first for a denim bag, to match the patchwork design of the main fabric, which intersects at various angles. All processes, including cutting the main fabric and assembling the lining, synthetic leather, and handles, are done by hand, making each bag a special denim bag down to the smallest detail.

We will also provide detailed information about our manufacturing process on the Familia blog.
