Fami-chan has long been a beloved Familia character, and now appears on a variety of products, including T-shirts, cardigans, and miscellaneous goods, regardless of the season.

Familiar's eye-catcher, the little bear, was born around 1951, not long after the company was founded. Originally, the design featured cute rose-colored birds and rabbits on a white background, but founder Atsuko Sakano, who loved little bears, changed the bird-like atmosphere into a little bear and used blue wrapping paper, which was the catalyst for the current Fami-chan and Ria-chan bears.

It all started when Sakano Atsuko noticed Tamura Yasushi drawing in a corner of a coffee shop and asked him to design price cards.
At that time, Atsuko Sakano, who loved bears, had been thinking about a design using the motif of bear cubs, and commissioned the design from Yasushi Tamura. This is when the twin bear cubs, Fami-chan and Leah-chan, were born.
Fami-chan and Ria-chan have well-defined characters, and we thought that by creating these characters, children would be able to feel closer to the little bear family.
