familiar 75th FUTURE

To commemorate the 75th anniversary of the company's founding, a project has been launched to make the wishes of the employees who have supported the brand come true! Everyone will create a "WISH LIST" of the future they want to achieve while working at Familia, and the entire brand will work together to make it a reality.

Employee-only bag

Familia employees' wish of "We want products that only employees can buy!" was realized. Three types of bags were designed with the artwork of "Teddy Bear working at Familia."

Original denim bag production

The idea for WISH, which was born from an employee at Familia who wanted to create an original denim bag, brought together members from across departments. As an internal project where everyone works together to make one person's wish come true, the team supported the project and made it a reality.

Production experience

We will choose the art to create from past denim bags and transfer the art onto a transfer sheet.

Next, patterns for the felt parts are created for each part. Felt parts are cut out one by one according to the patterns. The patterns and felt parts for the hand-embroidered denim bags that are actually sold are also cut by hand.

Once all the felt parts are ready, they are sewn together by hand. Felt embroidery is very detailed, with about 5 stitches per centimeter. The total work time was over 40 hours.

The finishing touch is sewing the bag. The denim bag that took about three months to make is now complete!

Experience Interview

Q. Why did you write "I want to make an original denim bag!"?
A. I've been using denim bags since I was little, so they've always been a part of my life. After joining Familiar, I became very interested in the manufacturing process. I thought that by actually experiencing it, I would be able to gain a deeper understanding of its value, and I felt that I could apply that knowledge to customer service.

Q. Which process was the most difficult?
A. The part where I cut out the pattern. I was really nervous because any discrepancies here would have an impact later on.

Q. How long did it take to hand embroider?
A. It took me over 40 hours. I had never sewed at home before, so the detailed work was difficult, but as I continued, it became fun and I wanted to do it more.

Q. What did you feel through the production experience?
A. There were a lot more steps than I had imagined, and I realized how much time and effort goes into making a single product. I also learned a lot from working with people from departments I don't usually have the opportunity to interact with. I was reminded that many people are involved in making a product.

Q. Do you think you can put this experience to good use as a front-line staff member interacting with customers?
A. I want to be more confident in conveying Familia's philosophy. Through this experience, I can proudly tell customers about the "value of Familia's manufacturing."

Q. What are your thoughts on the WISH LIST project?
A. I am very happy that my dream of making an original denim bag with my own hands came true through this project. It was a truly valuable opportunity to experience the craftsmanship and manufacturing process up close, and projects like this have made me realize once again that this is a company that truly listens to the voices of its employees.
